CPqD to Integrate Dojot Platform into Brazil’s Public Network

An agreement with WND, involving connectivity with Sigfox technology, aims to accelerate the development of Internet of Things solutions in that country.

Accelerating the development of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and the use of networks dedicated to those applications, involving low-cost infrastructure and optimized architecture for sending short messages on connected devices, are among the objectives of an agreement signed between CPqD and WND Brasil. WND has recently put into operation a national public network dedicated to the IoT, utilizing Sigfox technology.

The partnership consists, among other things, of the integration of the open platform dojot, which CPqD launched last month (see CPqD Creates Open-Source IoT Platform). The agreement provides for cooperative work between the two organizations.

WND will provide necessary coverage with Sigfox technology to the CPqD Technology Park, where the developed solutions will be validated in a real-world experimentation environment. The company will also provide pre-connected development kits and devices based on this technology, enabling companies to use the Sigfox network, which is now present in 34 countries worldwide. CPqD will play a crucial role in the development of IoT applications and devices for this connectivity standard, by integrating the dojot platform with Sigfox’s back-end.

“Dojot’s features, such as the micro-service-based architecture, the control panel with a graphical Web interface and end-to-end security, facilitate the development of IoT solutions appropriate to the Brazilian reality and contribute to the construction of an ecosystem in this area in the country,” says Alberto Paradisi, CPqD’s VP of research and development. “The partnership with WND is an important initiative in this direction.”

For Alexandre Reis, WND Group’s COO, the agreement will accelerate the development of IoT solutions for various sectors of the economy. “Our focus is to provide connectivity through this technology, which combines low-cost, low-power consumption and global scale,” Reis explains. “The dojot platform can help build applications and devices for this network.”
