RFID Journal announced today that it has added a new keynote presentation to the conference agenda of RFID Journal LIVE! 2022, which will take place at Las Vegas’s Mandalay Bay Convention Center on May 17-19. Brandon Carroll, BAE Systems‘ operations specialist, and Daniel Fitzgerald, the company’s principal project engineer, will discuss a new RFID warehouse-management and point-of-use solution.

“The event was called RFID Journal LIVE! because the articles we publish online would be, in a sense, done live on stage,” says Mark Roberti, RFID Journal’s founder and editor. “This is a great example. Having BAE Systems discuss its RFID project gives the audience a chance to learn what works, and to ask questions so that they can improve their operations.”

The session, titled “BAE Systems Gets Smart with Warehouse Utilization and POU Replenishment,” will take place on Wednesday, May 18, at 10:30 AM, and it will be open to all pass holders. Fitzgerald and Carroll will explain how the project increases RFID functionality in factories, laboratories, stockrooms and warehouse, and how it is expanding RFID capabilities to include the tracking of assets entering or exiting warehouses, the locations of storage containers or pallets within those warehouses, and the management of storage space.

During another keynote addresses, Dr. Bill Hardgrave of the Auburn University RFID Lab will discuss the steps retailers need to take to increase customer satisfaction with “buy online, pickup in store” (BOPIS), while streamlining processes and controlling costs. Among the issues Hardgrave will explore in detail are optimizing shopper communications, enhancing payment procedures, clearly identifying which products are available for in-store pickup and ensuring orders are ready when promised.

Joe Coll, Macy’s VP of asset protection, will sit down for an in-depth discussion of how RFID technology can be used to bring down organized retail crime (ORC). Macy’s has long been employing radio frequency identification to improve inventory accuracy and enhance on-shelf availability, but RFID has provided new insights into what is stolen, as well as where and how this occurs. Coll will explain how RFID and video can be linked to combat ORC.

In a panel discussion, Deirdre Schmidt, BAE Systems’ operations excellence leader, will join Johan Stenstrom, the supply chain developer at Swedish sporting goods retailer Stadium AB, and Chad Simpson, City Furniture‘s senior VP of technology, to discuss what lessons have been learned by companies experienced in deploying RFID technology.

RFID Journal LIVE! 2022 will feature more than 90 educational sessions in eight industry-specific and nine technical and how-to conference tracks, plus RFID Professional Institute certification training, the co-located IEEE RFID 2022 event and the RFID Journal Awards. What’s more, the conference will offer exhibits and demonstrations conducted by the industry’s leading technology firms. For more information, visit rfidjournallive.com.
