The best book on this subject would be The Complete RFID Handbook: A Manual and DVD for Assessing, Implementing and Managing Radio Frequency Identification Technologies in Libraries, written by RFID Journal contributor Diane Marie Ward. This 261-page book was published in 2007 by Neal-Schuman Publishers. I think you will find it very thorough and informative.
