November 9, 2004—This article provides a look at German retailer Metro’s official RFID roll-out, which began this month. The initiative is similar to those of Wal-Mart, Tesco, Target, and other North American and European retailers that seek to leverage RFID to make their supply chains more efficient. Metro’s project has gone live with about 20 suppliers, but the goal is to include all of the company’s 300 suppliers by 2006.
