Yes, it is possible. I’m not sure I can explain in much detail how this would be done, but essentially, an RFID reader would capture the unique serial number of a tagged item—say, an expensive piece of electronic equipment. At the same time, a video surveillance camera would watch that area. The two systems would be linked, and the date and time that the tag was read would be indexed to the video recording (I don’t know the technical details of how exactly this indexing is carried out). If you needed to go back and see what happened to that particular piece of electronics equipment, you would enter the serial number and call up the video feed for the time and date at which the item’s tag was interrogated. Simply RFID sells such a system that works out of the box. It is called NOX and was introduced in 2008 (see Nox System Uses RFID to Catch a Thief).
