August 6, 2004—One of the great expectations of RFID is that it will eliminate issues that have chronically plagued the supply chain: order mix-ups, shrinkage, and data inconsistency between trading partners. But widespread adoption of the technology will not come without significant hurdles, including dealing with the occasional discouraging failure and learning to accurately manage and share the mountain of new data.
