July 13, 2004—If Intermec is successful in its recent litigation against Matrics, it will probably pursue similar action against other RFID industry players. The once harmonious RFID industry might then become a far more litigious environment as all companies with RFID intellectual property follow suit. In a worst case scenario, such a development could stall RFID deployments and delay all-important standards development.
