Brasil will feature sessions from the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Brazil's army (Exército Brasileiro), global mining company Vale, horticultural cooperative Veiling Holambra, Petrobras and more. The event will take place on Sept. 24-25, 2014, at the Espaço APAS convention center, located in São Paulo.
This event, produced by RFID Journal and cornerstone-sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Brasil, will showcase leading end users presenting real-world case studies. These presentations, offered in Portuguese and English, will highlight how businesses are employing radio frequency identification, and where they are achieving real benefits from the technology. The content is designed to help Brazilian companies that are considering using RFID to address business challenges, determine the optimal RFID technology for their needs, learn best practices from early adopters, find the right technology partners and move forward with deployment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the leading technology companies and view their latest solutions.
Ravi Margasahayam, NASA's aerospace engineer for safety at the International Space Station (ISS), will present a session explaining how NASA is employing RFID to track sound and vibration levels during space shuttle and rocket launches. In another session, Francisco Pereira, representing Veiling Holambra's logistics efforts, will share how his firm is using RFID to identify and track returnable assets, enabling it to achieve high levels of technological innovation (see Veiling Holambra, a Major Latin American Horticultural Supplier, Adopts RFID).
Rafael Hidalgo Olivieri, representing Exército Brasileiro, will share details regarding the development of and tests performed on different types of explosives with the use of RFID to aid in the control and traceability of explosives and related products in Brazil. Carlos Teixeira, a senior analyst at Vale, will discuss how a recent RFID deployment is helping to monitor occupational records of health and safety. In another session, Fernando Ferreira Matos, TAP Maintenance and Engineering's head of information technologies, will share how TAP Portugal, the country's leading airline, has incorporated RFID into its daily engine-maintenance operations to track and trace parts, as well as provide increased efficiency and a strong return on investment (see Portuguese Airline TAPs Into RFID).
The event will also feature the RFID Basics Workshop, which will explain the fundamentals of the various types of RFID systems, the regulatory environment in which the technology operates, and other essential information that companies must understand before deploying an RFID system.
