Apesar da Impressão 3D apresentar vantagens sobre os sistemas tradicionais de fabricação, para efeito de identificação, os componentes fabricados nos diferentes processos se comportam identicamente. O diferencial está na possibilidade de se implantar uma etiqueta RFID durante o processo de fabricação aditiva do componente, e a partir desta identificação eliminar uma complexa cadeia logÃstica fÃsica e documental. Consequentemente a etiqueta RFID além de identificar sincroniza informações para execução deste componente em qualquer lugar do mundo. Para identificação indelével dos componentes impressos, os processos de fabricação aditivos em polÃmeros são mais suscetÃveis para adoção imediata da tecnologia RFID; principalmente pelo tipo de material utilizado na deposição e sua atenuação no sinal de RF. Impressoras 3D para ABS e PLA apresentam caracterÃsticas operacionais simplificadas, bem como não necessitam de envelope de impressão com atmosfera controlada. Consequentemente é possÃvel imprimir pequenos lotes de componentes complexos com identificação permanente embarcada. No conceito da Indústria 4.0 está possibilidade amplia em muito a capacidade das empresas customizarem em massa, atendendo assim a diferentes mercados com flexibilidade.
