On June 10, RFID Journal presented a webinar titled “Best New RFID Products of 2020: RF Controls’ CS-490 Smart Antenna and Times-7’s Packing Station.” Each webinar in this series features two products chosen as RFID Journal Award finalists, which will be exhibited at the RFID Journal LIVE! 2020 conference and exhibition, to be held on Sept. 9-11 in Orlando, Fla. The webinar’s speakers were Adrian Turchet, RF Controls‘ senior VP of strategy and corporate development, and Jos Kunnen, Times-7‘s managing director and CEO.
During this online event, RF Controls discussed its CS-490 Smart Antenna, which the company says doubles the read distance of its previous antenna from 45 feet to 90 feet. The new antenna features a single steerable phased-array and passive RTLS RFID reader. Next, Times-7 outlined the benefits of its Packing Station, designed for packing and shipment verification in e-commerce businesses across multiple industries. According to the company, the system works with any four-port passive UHF RFID reader, costs less and takes up less space than a tunnel reader, and can interrogate up to 1,000 tags densely packed within less than two seconds in a controlled environment.
An archived recording of the presentation is now available to view on demand, and a PDF of the slides used has been created as well. The presenters own the copyright to these materials, which are being offered for viewers’ personal reference and should not be reused without permission. Turchet joined RF Controls in 2018 to expand its sales and marketing strategy by growing its network of channel partners around the world, and he previously served as a financial adviser to the firm. He has experience with M&A transactions and corporate advisory from his ten-year career in the capital markets, and with scaling North American technology, logistics and manufacturing companies transitioning from startup to various stages of growth capital. Kunnen leads his company’s team in the development, manufacturing and distribution of UHF RFID reader antennas. He has sponsored several product-development programs during his four years at Times-7, and he has more than 35 years of experience in information technology management roles in the oil and gas, information technology, utilities and GIS sectors.
