Tokyo –Apr. 5, 2016 – RFLocus today announced a new way to locate inventory assets with handheld readers. Based on RAIN RFID technology, the company offers technology breakthrough to locate assets items with centimeter precision in a rapid and effective manner.
For existing methodology today in the market, RF RSSI location accuracy can only achieve proximity in units of meter. Thus, end users often result in investing additional labor and time to implement the last mile of the process in order to locate items. RFLocus eliminates this redundancy by leveraging RF time series phase information, navigating users with displaying arrows and playing sounds to show whether the handheld is approaching to or getting apart from the tag. The method is operational in common multi-path environment when the line of sight is dominant.
This has been implemented on ATID AB700 / AT880 handheld reader which is operated on Impinj Indy R2000 reader chip technology. Available for sale in US and Japan market via licensing and an evaluation kit will be ready on May 3. A demo is available at RFID Journal LIVE! 2016 in booth 612E. A cloud based system to maintain and create list of assets for confirming existence / locating can also be provided on request.
