October 22, 2004—ABI Research released it’s RFID Quarterly Service this week, which “provides up to date insight into the trends, players, and technology impacting RFID market growth and adoption.” A notable point in this report includes the addition of tag availability to the list of concerns confronting RFID adopters. Other, ever-familiar concerns cited were return on investment, standards, and accuracy and performance. Another note of interest came in the form of a comment ABI’s resident RFID expert analyst Erik Michielsen made to internetnews.com: many suppliers will not meet the RFID mandate deadline of January 1, 2005, and instead will be given room to comply within the first few months of the year.
