I have not heard that radio frequency identification has been approved in any formal way for use on explosive gasses. I reached out to the Compressed Gas Association, which is “dedicated to the development and promotion of safety standards and safe practices in the industrial gas industry.” They didn’t even know what RFID is. I do know that there are RFID systems available that are intrinsically safe for use around inflammable materials, and that several companies have developed HERO-compliant readers that can be utilized around ordinance.
