PRESS RELEASE:

Effnet AB, the premier provider of header compression software for wireless and fixed networks, today announced that it has licensed its header compression technology for cellular IoT to one of its existing customers, a leading Japanese telecom infrastructure equipment manufacturer.

Cellular networks provide connectivity for Internet of Things (IoT) and enable Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) applications. Cellular IoT technologies support a massive number of connected devices, long battery life and indoor coverage. The 3GPP specifications for Cellular IoT recommend use of header compression technology (ROHC) for control plane optimization of IP data services. ROHC is integrated in Cellular IoT devices and in the Mobility Management Entity (MME) in the Enhanced Packet Core (EPC) of a cellular network.

“We are proud about the fact that our customer has once again chosen Effnet’s header compression technology after a thorough evaluation process. Cellular IoT is the latest evolution in technology to efficiently deliver connectivity and services to millions of terminals. Our header compression technology with its high quality and performance has kept the pace with this evolution and is suitable for Cellular IoT terminals with limited battery capacity as well as EPC/MME systems that support millions of such terminals.” says Aniruddha Kulkarni, Managing Director of Effnet AB. “This agreement is yet another step in building a portfolio of contracts generating recurring revenue streams for Effnet,” he concludes.

Effnet AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Effnetplattformen AB (publ), is a world leader in the area of IP Header Compression. Effnet develops and sells embedded software that increases the efficiency, speed and quality of IP traffic in fixed, mobile and satellite networks.
