Is there a low-cost tag available on the market with such a range?

It depends on what you mean by low-cost. If you mean $0.01 each, then the answer is no. It also depends on what you mean by a tag. A raw RFID inlay is cheaper than an inlay that has been converted into a smart label.

High-frequency (HF) tags have a read range of approximately 1 meter (3.3 feet). You can purchase HF tags online in small quantities for about $1 apiece, though price decreases as the number of units increases. If you are buying hundreds of thousands of tags, you might be able to find them offered for $0.25 to $0.30 each.

Ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags are generally cheaper, but typically have a longer read range. You can reduce the range by powering down the reader antenna.
