Premium retailer Woolworths will deploy the iD Cloud RFID solution from Nedap to 217 Fashion, Beauty and Home stores across South Africa as it seeks to improve inventory accuracy and in-store replenishment.
The solution, designed to move the retailer closer to its strategic objective of selling more with less stock, sets up Woolworths to use RFID for loss prevention and supply chain improvements in the future.
The retailer expects to significantly lower the time spent counting and restocking the sales floor, with the solution providing up-to-date stock levels synchronized with Woolworths’ ERP system. Store associates will receive refill suggestions, allowing them to proactively replenish products rather than relying on often error-prone manual checks.
“Nedap has a clear roadmap vision for RFID, driven through a partnership approach, supported by the technical ability that iD Cloud offers,” said Christie Koorts, CIO at Woolworths in a statement. “We are excited to start this journey with them. RFID is an important strategic asset for us, and we are looking at adding loss prevention measures and supply chain enhancements in the future.”
