During RFID Journal Live last month, PervasID’s Founder & President Dr. Sabesan Sithamparanathan, OBE previewed the launch of TrackMaster 3X, a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI)-driven RFID solution for retail inventory management.
The TrackMaster 3X is designed to help retailers take control of stock accuracy, shrinkage, and store performance. It is touted as giving 99 percent+ stock accuracy in real-time, with one-meter location tracking—providing coverage of up to 4,500 sq ft with just one reader.
The new offering from PervasID allows for the elimination of manual scanning and ensuring inventory is in the right place at the right time. Sithamparanathan noted that retail shrinkage cost the industry $110 billion in 2024, impacting retailers not just with losses but customers increasingly losing patience with empty shelves and missing stock.
Targeting Retail Shrinkage
“In our testing, retailers have fewer losses, higher efficiency, and an observed sales uplift of 5–10 percent,” said Sithamparanathan.
“Conventional passive RFID systems are constrained by limited read range and reduced detection reliability. Tag detection accuracy typically deteriorates beyond two to three meters, while signal interference— often caused by environmental reflections— can result in dead zones within the radio field,” he added.
How It Works
The TrackMaster 3X system addresses range and detection limitations through the use of advanced signal processing, machine learning, and AI-driven algorithms. These technologies collectively enable a significant boost in reliable read range, detection accuracy, and location precision.
“It’s an entire new way of addressing the underlying physics of RFID reducing dead zones from approximately 20 percent to less than one percent,” said Sithamparanathan. “The result is near-complete coverage with one-meter location precision and consistent, reliable performance.”
A further advantage touted by PervasID officials is its minimal infrastructure requirement. Traditional RFID deployments often rely on a dense network of readers and antennas to maintain tag proximity and achieve acceptable accuracy— but achieving full detection is difficult.
“TrackMaster 3X delivers ultra-high accuracy without the need for additional antennas—thanks to its intelligent, adaptive signal interpretation,” said Sithamparanathan. “The result is a solution that requires fewer readers, offers simpler installation, and delivers more reliable coverage across larger and more complex environments.”
Real-time Inventory Adjustments
Sithamparanathan noted as shoppers habits and routines change, TrackMaster 3X can permit for flexibility by retailers. It is fully compatible with click-and-collect services, allowing for the acceleration of order fulfillment. Retailers gain access to real-time, high-fidelity inventory data, reducing markdowns by ensuring products are sold at full price and minimizing the need for last-minute discounting.
With its AI capabilities, TrackMaster 3X empowers retailers to optimize store layouts using detailed, location-based sales insights. With the ability to track how product placement impacts performance, businesses can strategically position high-margin items in high-traffic zones, maximizing conversion that leads to higher profitability.
“We actually use the machine learning of AI to tell us the location of each and every item precisely in the sales area and stock room,” said Sithamparanathan. “This enables real-time replenishment on the sales floor.
Additionally, store personnel can be redeployed from inventory management to assisting customers. “Staff will not have to manually scan inventory daily or weekly,” said Sithamparanathan.
Targeting Growth
PervasID is offering various options and work with the retailers to ensure that the retail brand is getting what they want. It has been deployed in over 40 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. The app can be installed on either an Apple or Android phone.
Sithamparanathan said that the ROI installing the TrackMaster 3X is six to eight months. “For a 20,000 sq. ft. store, the total cost— including hardware, software, and installation— is around $50,000… You gain the ability to monitor items from entry to exit, significantly reducing losses.”
While the retail sector is the current focus, PervasID sees significant potential in aerospace and hospital sectors.
