Dear Jaideep,
We have not published any case studies related to that particular topic, but one of the earliest applications of NFC-enabled phones was developed by Nokia for security and maintenance personnel. It involved tagging specific locations, and guards were required to scan an NFC tag with a Nokia phone to confirm they had actually physically visited a door to ensure it was locked (see Nokia Uses RFID-Enabled Phones to Police Its Security Guards).
The system couldn't actually confirm that a door was locked, but it did ensure that the guard visited each location on a site. The assumption was that if that person visited the site, then he or she would check the door while there.
Other than that, I am unaware of any applications involving guards. If our readers are aware of any applications or case studies that might be relevant, please post information about them below. Thank you.
