Ask The ExpertsCategory: QuestionsWhat Has Caused the Rising Cost of RFID Tags?
Peter asked 2 years ago

We have noted substantial price increases for RFID tags, which seems to be due to the semiconductor shortages, material costs and sharply increased transport expenses. Is there any information available for data carrier inflation over the last two to three years? And when will prices come back down?

Peter,

I have not seen any data regarding the rising costs of RFID tags, but it is clearly associated with the global chip shortage. We have tried to write articles about this, but no one will talk to us about it. I suspect that as the chip shortage eases, prices will come down again. Unfortunately, no one can reliably say when that might happen.
