If so, can it detect products located 50 to 100 meters (164 to 328 feet) away?

Active RFID systems can typically read tags from a distance of 300 meters (984 feet) or more, because active tags broadcast a signal, like a cell phone. Active real-time location system (RTLS) technology can tell you the location of a tagged object within 10 feet or so, though some systems have a greater level of accuracy. Active tags typically cost $50 and up, so if you are tagging inexpensive products, an active system is unlikely to be cost-effective.

Mojix offers a phased-array antenna system that can locate tags from more than 100 meters away. This solution is often described as a passive real-time location system. If you are tagging multiple items, this could be a more cost-effective solution for you, since the Mojix system reads ordinary, passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags.
