We are evaluating third-party systems, such as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and ground-based sensors, to compensate for RFID blind spots. Are they any other third-party systems that we should also consider to ensure asset (vehicle) visibility?

Justin,

To track vehicles over a long distance, GPS is probably the best option. You can then load tagged goods into the vehicle and track its location and estimated time of arrival. If theft is the issue, then GPS would definitely be the way to go. You might also consider an active RFID solution with a long read range, such as Iotera's system (see Iotera Develops Active RFID Tag With 4-Mile Read Range).
