We recently posted an article about the U.S. Department of Agriculture's pilot using passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID ear tags (see USDA Embarks on 18-Month UHF RFID Pilot for Tracking Cattle). The USDA is purchasing passive tags from two companies: HANA Micron America Inc., the U.S. division of Korea-headquartered semiconductor firm HANA Micron, and Y-Tex. In addition, a U.S. company called Fort Supply Technologies distributes AniTrace's UHF animal tags.
