RFID Journal Staff asked 5 years ago Our procurement is a statewide master contract that state agencies, local governments, institutions of education, and others will use. It has eight different use cases for which bidders may provide a solution. Our intent is to award to integrators who have relationships with suppliers for all of the components necessary for a solution. Each use case is considered a category, and awards will be made by category. Bidders could provide a solution for any use case. We have use cases for wildlife tracking, fish tracking, USDA (meat for public consumption) tracking, asset tracking in a medical environment (hospital), asset (nurse) tracking in a medical environment, and other, more standard asset-tracking use cases.

The International Organization for Standardization publishes standards for radio frequency identification systems. You can go to its website and type "RFID" into the search field to find information on the standards it has published. There are several different kinds of standards.
Air-interface protocol standards: These standards govern how tags and readers communicate and are probably the ones most people think of when they think of RFID standards. ISO 18000-63 is the air-interface protocol standard for passive UHF RFID tags and readers, while ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 are the standards for passive HF RFID tags and readers.
ISO also publishes tag-data standards and other RFID standards designed to ensure interoperability of supply chain, animal tagging and other systems.
