We are a U.K. company, and I wonder if you could help me identify vendors supplying interrogators with a range of 1 to 2 meters (3.3 to 6.6 feet).

Passive high-frequency (HF) RFID cards can be interrogated from 1 meter away, though the practical read range is often only about half that distance. To achieve a range of 2 meters, you would require a card with an embedded passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) transponder. Zebra Technologies offers these, and has a machine you can buy that will create them for you (see Zebra’s UHF Gen 2 RFID Card).

ASK offers cards with both HF and UHF transponders (see TwinSet: The UHF / HF Convergence).

And Convergence Systems Ltd. (CSL) offers a battery-assisted UHF tag that can be read from a distance of 25 meters (82 feet).
