I am considering either an API or the LLRP to develop applications for RFID readers—mainly those from Impinj and Zebra Technologies. Do you have any comparisons for each case, such as reliability, stability or speed?

Phan,

I have never seen any side-by-side comparisons regarding the performance of a dedicated application programming interface (API) or the Low-Level Reader Protocol (LLRP). The latter was designed to create a standardized interface between readers and middleware or back-end applications. I would suggest contacting Impinj and Zebra to find out if their experts have any insights into the performance expected from the two different approaches.
