What is the earliest documentation of using the technology to provide customers with product information?

I've been receiving many questions recently about early documentation of different applications, which leads me to believe that a lot of people are either patenting ideas or are looking to sue those whom they think have infringed their patents.

To address your question: The first example of RFID being used in print advertising of which I am aware was at Focus magazine, which won our 2009 RFID Journal Award for Most Innovative Use of RFID (see RFID Gives Focus Magazine a Sharper View of Readership and RFID Helps German Publisher Put Focus on Ads). Focus' goal was to track which stories were being read, and by how many people. I have not heard of another publication using that type of a system.
