Is there any way you can give me an estimate on the cost of RFID equipment (printers, readers and tags)?

Michelle,

I assume you are looking for passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID hardware. Printers range from about $500 for a small desktop model designed for printing a few labels at a time to as much as $4,000 for industrial models designed for printing large numbers of labels. Fixed UHF readers range from about $500 for low-end models with a single antenna to $3,000 for higher-end models that can support eight or 16 antennas. Tags can cost as little as 7 cents apiece for a passive UHF inlay (with no label to print on) in high volume. There are also durable tags designed for harsh environments that can cost $5 each or more. I apologize for offering such wide ranges, but without knowing a lot more about what exactly you are looking for, it would be difficult to provide precise numbers.
