Do you have an estimate of the number of firms that have deployed the technology to date?

To be honest, I really have no idea. In fact, I doubt anyone has made even a rough estimate. Many companies employ radio frequency identification for access control. If you take away that major application, then very few others are using it to manage inventory, track work-in-process and so forth. I would guess that it's less than 1 percent of all businesses—remember, many firms still do not even use bar codes.
