Target did conduct some RFID pilots back when Walmart first deployed the technology to track pallets and cases (see Target Issues RFID Mandate, Target Tests RFID for Security and Target, Wal-Mart Share EPC Data). To my knowledge, however, those tests never led to a chain-wide rollout, and the retailer is not currently utilizing RFID in any significant way.
