Most point-of-sale systems do not have an RFID reader that would enable you to interrogate RFID tags on items. Instead, they use bar codes. Tyco Retail Solution, Checkpoint Systems and other companies sell RFID systems that would allow you to manage inventory in-store with RFID and check customers out by reading the RFID tags on items. You could also install a reader at the point of sale and integrate it with your existing POS system by yourself, if your company has the expertise to do that.
