Fastag RFID System Expanded for Automated Parking
Mar 07, 2024Entering the second phase of its Fastag RFID rollout, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has accepted bids for an RFD-based parking system that will be deployed at 28 sites.
The latest solution is intended to digitize operations, management and collection of parking charges through the existing Fastag toll-collection system, on a monthly license fee basis. The parking sites will be allotted for three years, extendable by two years based on mutual agreement.
MDC reported that automated parking will provide commuters with an easy way to pay parking fees which will be automatically deducted through the existing Fastag system. The expanded Fastag system will be used for four-wheel vehicles while scooter and motorcycles will be charged through QR code or UPI.
RFID sensors will be installed at entry and exit points to capture vehicle Fastag transmissions. The MCD operates about 400 parking sites which includes stack or multi level facilities in New Delhi.
Guardian RFID Joins Amazon Web Services Program
Inmate tracking technology company Guardian RFID has joined the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network (APN) and the AWS Public Sector Partner (PSP) Program.
By becoming part of a global community of AWS Partners, Guardian RFID intends to leverage programs, expertise and resources to build, market and sell customer offerings. The PSP Program helps AWS Partners grow their public sector business through alignment with AWS public sector sales, marketing, funding, capture and proposal terms.
Guardian RFID already provides its Command Cloud technology platform to help correctional officers execute their care, custody and control mission set through modern cloud, mobile, RFID and AI technologies.
The company reports that joining the APN allows it to better serve its customers, partners and broader cloud computing community through increased access to resources as well as APN partners and AWS.
AWS has a network of 100,000 partners from more than 150 companies that work together to innovate solutions and solve technical challenges.
Actility and Kerlink Offer Embedded Network Server in LoRaWAN Gateways
Kerlink and Actility have partnered to offer their products in a combined plug-and-play, edge computer ecosystem.
Kerlink’s gateway suites—Wirnet iFemtoCell and Wirnet iStation gateway suites—can now come integrated with Actility’s ThingPark All-in-One (TAO) platform for deployment and operation of Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) within a single infrastructure. In addition to providing value to Kerlink’s gateway offer, the partnership increases Actility’s ability to serve small private-network markets and propose cloud-based extensions, the companies said.
The combined solution includes a LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS), payload decoders and application connectors in a single device.
One use case will be in industrial asset management, in which TAO enables predictive maintenance by monitoring machinery through vibration sensors. This solution helps identify potential failures early, thereby reducing downtime and maintenance costs. Companies can start with TAO to evaluate the technology and later migrate into more scalable solutions with multiple Kerlink gateways managed by a centralized Actility LNS.
According to the companies, the partnership will enable their customers lower deployment barriers and costs across various sectors by enabling efficient, scalable IoT applications.
