What factors should I take into consideration when looking for the right tag?

Motion and gesture recognition are usually carried out with cameras and not radio frequency identification, though RFID transponders are sometimes combined with these technologies to indicate the object with which a person is interacting. The right tag would depend on the type of object being tagged, the distance from which the tag is being read and other factors.

In addition, motion and gesture recognition can be carried out using accelerometers. HID Global proposed such an RFID-based solution, though I don't believe it was ever commercialized (see HID Global Seeks to Improve RFID Security Via Hand Gestures).
