Governments around the world regulate both the frequency that radio systems can use and the power output of those systems, which is expressed as effective radiated power (ERP) or equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP). Output is regulated to avoid interference with other devices using the same frequency band.
China allows RFID systems to operate within 865 MHz to 868 MHz at two watts of ERP and from 920 MHz to 925 MHz at four watts of EIRP (four watts of EIRP is equal to 2.439 watts of ERP). Hong Kong is part of China and follows China's RFID regulations.
India allows RFID systems to operate from 865 MHz to 867 MHz with four watts of ERP. In Indonesia, the band is 923 MHz to 925 MHz with two watts of ERP. Malaysia allows RFID systems to operate between 919 MHz and 923 MHz with two wats of ERP. The Philippines has not established regulations for RFID systems. And Vietnam has set aside 866 MHz to 869 MHz with 0.5 watts of ERP and 920 MHz to 925 MHz with two watts of ERP.
As you can see, the bands vary and are narrow in Asia. Readers must comply with these regulations to operate legally in these countries.
