Can RFID Track Dump-Truck Loads of Dirt to Construction Sites?

Posted By RFID Journal, 12.18.2015

I use a supplier for the dirt, and there is usually no one at my job site to count the loads. Is there an off-the-shelf RFID solution that could keep track of loads delivered from the supplier to the site?

Mark,

This is a fairly straightforward RFID application. There is no out-of-the-box solution available, but almost any systems integrator should be able to set up RFID readers at your gate to identify dump-trucks arriving at your construction sites, find the best tags for those trucks and set up a software application to track vehicles arriving at and leaving the site.

Please note that SecuriCode (http://www.securicode.co.uk) can provide an out-of-the-box solution. Ruggedised Tags are attached to the dump-trucks, Outdoor Nodes (wired or WiFi) are at the site (and supplier as necessary), PC CheckPoint Demonstrator (running on a laptop) pops the load details on arrival and records the events (with the load details and datetime of arrival) which can then be viewed or loaded into Excel etc. Regards Ralph Jarmain SecuriCode Ltd
