RFID Journal Issues Call for Submission for Awards, Adds New Category

The company is accepting entries for the 2011 RFID Journal Awards, including a new award for best use of RFID to protect the environment, improve recycling or enhance sustainability.
Oct 19, 2010RFID Journal today announced that it is accepting submissions for the 2011 RFID Journal Awards, which recognize businesses that have distinguished themselves by their successful use of radio frequency identification. The deadline for all awards submissions is Jan. 31, 2011.

"In previous years, the awards have been given to several prestigious firms, including Airbus, DHL and Hewlett-Packard," says Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "Companies should be sure not to miss this unique opportunity to be recognized in the RFID and end-user community."

This year's RFID Journal Awards will be given in six categories, including a new RFID Green Award, for best use of RFID to protect the environment, improve recycling or enhance sustainability. The other award categories are as follows:

Best RFID Implementation: awarded to an end-user company that has demonstrated the best use of RFID to improve its manufacturing, supply chain or retail operations. The winner will be a firm that illustrates how the technology is delivering real value to its shareholders.

Best Use of RFID to Enhance a Product or Service: awarded to an end-user company that has employed RFID to enhance an existing product or service. The winner will be a firm that demonstrates how it is using the technology to provide additional value to its customers.

Most Innovative Use of RFID: awarded to an end-user company with the most novel use of RFID technology. The winner will be the firm that demonstrates how it is utilizing RFID in a new or unusual way to solve a business problem, deliver a return on investment to shareholders or improve customer service.

Best in Show: awarded to a company for a new product or service introduced after Apr. 16, 2010, and exhibited at RFID Journal LIVE! 2011, RFID Journal's ninth annual conference and exhibition, which will be held on Apr. 12-14, 2011, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.

RFID Special Achievement Award: awarded to three individuals who have contributed to the RFID industry. The winners can be end users, researchers, vendors, inventors, standards developers and others who have contributed to the advancement of the entire industry.

RFID Journal's editors will select an independent panel of judges to evaluate entries and choose this year's winners. An awards ceremony will be held at LIVE! 2011, and the winning entries will also be featured in an issue of RFID Journal magazine.
