June 21, 2004—For those companies that outsource their manufacturing operations to China, RFID tagging at the factory would be ideal. As of yet, this hasn't happened due to the lack of Chinese RFID standards. China's government did recently establish a working group to decide on standards for the new technology, but this probably won't yield significant results until year's end.
