June 11, 2004—George Washington University has developed a model "Home of the 21st Century" complete with networked appliances, a refrigerator that knows its contents, and rooms that adapt their temperatures to an occupant's programmed preferences. What technology is at the heart of this futuristic vision? RFID, of course.
