January 13, 2004—In an innovative effort to contain potential epidemic outbreaks of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Center for Aerospace and Systems Technology (CAST) successfully carried out the project "Hospital Contact History and Monitoring System" for Ton Yen General Hospital Last June. It uses the emerging technology - Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) - to help hospital staff to determine when and where personnel may have contacted with patients infected by SARS.
