iDTRONIC Intros NFC RFID Tags for Industrial Applications
iDTRONIC has announced that its RFID Sleeve Tags are now available with  NFC Forum-compliant chip types. The tags are designed for industrial applications, contain a PA6 nylon housing and were developed for attachment to plastic pipes, cables or cylindrical containers. They can be attached using a wire loop or a cable tie through two mounting holes, the company reports. In addition to its UHF and HF transponder ICs, the firm is expanding its available product line with  NXP's I-Code SLI-X and NTAG ICs.

The announcement is intended to meet the increased demand for NFC Forum-compliant chip types, iDTRONIC reports, and supports mobile data acquisition via NFC-compatible end devices. With an IP68 protection class, the tag is protected against splash water and dust accumulation, according to the company, while the nylon housing offers reliable performance and read stability in harsh environments. It can withstand exposure to chemicals, aggressive liquids and fluctuating temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to +85 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees to +185 degrees Fahrenheit).

Operational maintenance of equipment is an ongoing process, the company explains, and the goal is to ensure a device's full functionality. The RFID Sleeve Tags are suitable for the identification and maintenance of hoses, cables or pipes, iDTRONIC indicates, as well as for the tracking or protection of fire extinguishers, air conditioning units and machines in industrial operations. The tags are available with numerous personalization options.

iDTRONIC offers laser-engraving for customer-specific sequences of numbers or letters. The company can encode RFID tags using standard, NDEF or crypto-coding, according to individual requirements, such as a company's Web address. Upon request, the firm can provide the tags with a Microsoft Excel table containing all coding details. The tags can be delivered pre-sorted in the packaging, and there are several color options from which to choose.

NeWave, MobiZcan Partner to Develop Latin American RFID Market
NeWave Sensor Solutions has announced that an agreement with  MobiZcan Technologies has been completed to jointly develop its RFID business in Latin American countries. MobiZcan has been appointed as NeWave's exclusive representative for patented antennas and radiators, and it will also continue to represent  SLS RFID for RFID portals and tunnels in that region. The agreement will include coverage of Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

NeWave provides solutions for item-level RFID applications, based on its patented Wave antenna. MobiZcan, meanwhile, works with customers, systems integrators, resellers and consultants in the Latin American RFID and IoT markets, providing them with technologies to accelerate the digital transformation of their business.

Avidity Science Acquires UMG, Adds RFID to Biomedical Research
Avidity Science has announced that it is expanding its presence in the biomedical research sector via its acquisition of  UMG Inc. According to the company, this investment will allow it to grow its line of radio frequency identification solutions for the global biomedical research community. Avidity Science provides water purification, delivery, control, monitoring and service solutions for the life sciences and biomedical research fields, while UMG offers products for the safe, accurate identification of research models, creating integrated systems to automate the gathering, recording and validating of research data for researchers and facilities.

"We are excited about this investment, as it adds unique design, engineering and manufacturing capacity of RFID transponders and readers used in research model identification," said Doug Lohse, Avidity Science's CEO, in a prepared statement. Spotlite360 Explores Agriculture Use for Blockchain, Internet of Things
Spotlite360 Technologies has announced that it is commercializing its suite of technologies utilizing blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) functionality for supply chains. The company says it has chosen market segments on which it will initially focus, including the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Spotlite360 is currently exploring opportunities for its solutions to be utilized in agricultural supply chains, which have faced challenges regarding labor concerns and oil prices.

Spotlite360's solutions can be integrated with systems, equipment and supplies that are common for agriculture industry players, including farmers, ground transporters, distribution centers and retail grocers. Companies can employ its products to identify potential hazards or inefficiencies with fewer data gaps. Blockchain entries cannot be modified, the firm explains, and the risk of record tampering in the event of disputes is mitigated, allowing recalls to be conducted in an expedited manner to protect consumers.

Using IoT sensors, Spotlite360's solutions continuously detect temperatures, humidity levels and other attributes of environments in which inventory is being stored or transported, thereby maintaining product quality and freshness. The technology is designed to capture and consolidate sustainability data, such as the fuel efficiency of commercial transport vehicles, to substantiate claims related to social and environmental responsibility, and to help consumers understand their food product choices.

Quanergy Systems Partners with Power Motion on LiDAR
Quanergy Systems, a provider of OPA-based solid-state LiDAR sensors and smart 3D solutions for automotive and Internet of Things applications, has announced a partnership with industrial automation distributor  Power Motion to deliver 2D and 3D LiDAR solutions for industrial automation throughout the South Central United States.

Power Motion offers industrial-automation products from multiple manufacturers. The company has locations in St. Louis, Kansas City and Little Rock, serving Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Southern Illinois, Southern and Western Iowa, Northern Louisiana, Eastern Oklahoma and Northeast Texas. "Through our technical sales engineers," said Chris Tremblay, Power Motion's president, in a prepared statement, "our company promotes, applies and supports leading-edge technical products, and we look forward to introducing Quanergy LiDAR sensing technology to our valued customers."

Quanergy's computer-vision LiDAR platform is built on 2D and 3D LiDAR sensors, along with its proprietary QORTEX perception software. The sensors offer 3D perception for a variety of industrial-automation applications, including measurement and ranging, object detection and package profiling. Quanergy's LiDAR technology provides navigation and collision avoidance for mobile equipment, such as automated guided vehicles, mobile robots and forklifts, to protect individuals working around such vehicles. The platform is intended to boost accuracy, efficiency and safety by optimizing industrial-automation processes and enabling industrial IoT applications.

Quanergy provides CMOS solid-state sensors that are immune to vibration and offers over 100,000 hours of mean time between failure (MTBF) for reliable, long-term performance in harsh industrial environments. "LiDAR is a powerful and versatile sensing technology that is rapidly gaining adoption in many industrial markets," added Tony Rigoni, Quanergy's director of industrial markets, in the prepared statement. "Partnering with Power Motion as a distributor of Quanergy's LiDAR platform is a key step to solve customer's applications and provide regional sales and technical support."

In June 2021, Quanergy entered into a definitive merger agreement with CITIC Capital Acquisition Corp. Upon closing of the transaction, the combined company will be named Quanergy Systems, Inc., and it is expected to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol QNGY. The transaction is anticipated to close during the fourth quarter of this year, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
