Is this a viable use of radio frequency identification technology?
Yes—in fact, this is the value of radio frequency identification technology. There are two types of data that you can write to a tag. One is a unique serial number, so you could program 100 tags or 1,000 tags to have unique serial numbers. Many tags have user memory as well. You could write different information in the user memory field of the tag. For example, you might write store ID numbers in the memory field so that when the tags were read at a warehouse, the associates there would know which store to ship different items to.
