Are there specific phone models that can interrogate NFC tags?

Any Android phone with an RFID reader should be able to interrogate Near Field Communication (NFC) tags. Tags containing NXP Semiconductors‘ Mifare Ultralight chips, for example, comply with the NFC standard and should be readable. There are four different types of NFC tags. Some are read-only, while others are read-write, so make sure you get the type with the features you require.
