Is there a single tag available that will work in tracking any and all laptop computers?

There is not a single tag that will work for tracking any and all laptops. Different tags will work depending on where you tag the computers. If you require a certain read range, that will likely affect your choice of tag, as will the need to print on the tag.
In some cases, you can find an area on a laptop's plastic case where there is no metal directly underneath, which would detune the antenna. If that's the case, many generic passive high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) labels would work for your purposes.
There are many on-metal tags that will work. Omni-ID and Xerafy make printable on-metal labels that are very thin and would likely work well. William Frick & Co., The Tag Factory and others make good on-metal tags that would likely work as well.
