Is it possible to buy an embeddable passive RFID tag with a long read range, for use as a cable in security seals? It is important that if someone cuts the cable, the tag will sustain damage.

There are a variety of RFID-enabled seals on the market. Some use an active RFID transponder—that is, battery-powered—while others utilize passive tags. There are bolt seals, cable seals and other types. All, or virtually all, are designed to indicate when the seal has been broken or tampered with.

Active seals have a longer read range because they broadcast a signal. Passive tags have a read range of anywhere from 1 foot to 15 or 20 feet. Here is an article summarizing the different types of seals available, which provides links to the major manufacturers of RFID seals: RFID-Enabled Electronic Seals.
