I am looking for a producer of a wireless RFID interrogator that can read passive tags from this distance. Does such a reader exist?

Most passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID handheld readers can interrogate tags from a distance of 3 feet (0.9 meter). The exceptions are very small units designed to hang from a keychain and others that plug into the audio port of a cell phone and use the phone's own battery. So you should contact Alien Technology, ATID, Convergence Systems Ltd., GAO RFID, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility, Technology Solutions (UK) Ltd., U Grok It, Zebra Technologies and others.
