Ask The ExpertsWhere Can I Find an HF RFID Reader With a 1-Meter Read Range?
RFID Journal Staff asked 8 years ago

Are there any high-frequency (HF) RFID interrogators with a read range of 1 meter (3.3 feet), without requiring extensive adaptation? If such readers exist, can you provide me with their names and model numbers? Also, where could I buy them?

Simon,

Passive HF readers based on the ISO 15693 standard are designed to provide approximately 1 meter of read range. These are available from Feig Electronic, Indentiv and other suppliers. Whether or not you can actually attain a 1-meter read range will depend on the reader antennas and tags you choose, as well as other factors. I would suggest you contact the reader manufacturer, explain your needs and ask the company to recommend the appropriate reader, antenna and tag models.
