There are a variety of different tags that could be used in toll-collection systems. Most are active RFID transponders, priced at around $50 apiece. Some systems have begun utilizing passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags, which can be affixed to a vehicle's windshield. These tags would likely cost under a dollar each.
