Can such tags be interrogated via cellular or satellite communications?

Larry,
Battery-powered RFID tags, known as active tags, have a read range of about 300 feet to 1,000 feet. Some can be read from even further. The tags cannot be interrogated via cellular or satellite communications, but some active tags have been integrated with cellular transceivers and GPS (they have two radios in them for two types of communication).
