Can you please tell me which one would be the best choice for my purposes?

Johnson,

It would not be possible to say definitively which reader is best. It all depends on the tags you are using and what you are trying to achieve. If you are trying to read multiple tags in random orientation inside a car at a checkpoint, then you would want a powerful handheld reader, such as the CS101 from Convergence Systems Ltd. or the MC9090-Z from Zebra Technologies.

There are also readers that work with a smartphone. You would slide your phone into a sled and it would then be able to read passive UHF RFID tags. Technology Solutions (U.K.) Ltd., Zebra Technologies, U Grok It, Invengo, AsReader and other companies make great devices that might meet your needs. These readers are generally not as powerful as the industrial models mentioned above, but they can interrogate tags from up to 15 feet away.

I hope this answers your question, and I look forward to seeing you at RFID Journal LIVE! in May.
