Dear Vinay,
There are no global standards. Every country creates its own regulations regarding the use of the radio spectrum. Most nations around the world have approved 13.56 MHz for the use of passive RFID (high-frequency [HF] systems). The spectrum allotted to passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID is less uniform, since many countries had already assigned the UHF spectrum to other communications devices or systems, such as fire and rescue radio systems.
GS1 has been tracking regulations around the globe related to passive UHF RFID (see Regulatory status for using RFID in the EPC Gen 2 band [860 to 960 MHz] of the UHF spectrum—31 May 2013). In India, you are permitted to use the 865 to 867 MHz band with 4 watts of effective radiated power (ERP). This is similar to most European countries, so readers designed to operate in Europe would likely work in India as well.
