Automatic-identification solutions cover passive low-frequency (LF), high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) systems, many different active technologies, real-time location systems, bar codes of all stripes (pun intended), various biometric technologies and so forth. Within each of these sub-genres of auto-ID technologies, there are tag manufacturers, reader makers, software providers and more. Listing the leaders in each of these categories would take a dozen pages and several hours. Instead, I recommend that you spend some time reading RFID Journal, which will provide you with an indication of who the major players are.
